The first one is the builder that constructs home according to the tastes and requirements of the customers. These are known as custom builders. The contractor will then construct your home according to the plan. The advantage of hiring such builder is that you will have complete discretion in choosing the layout of your home, design, tiles, woodwork, paint, and so on. And the disadvantage is that you will have to shell out more money to develop a custom-built home and devote a huge amount of time in overseeing the work. The second type of builder is production home builder. As the name suggests, these builders construct home in large numbers, for example - apartments, gated communities, row houses, and so on. The advantage of hiring a production home builder is the low cost of acquiring the home and freedom from hassles of overseeing the work and doing large amount of paperwork. The builder will be responsible for developing the construction plans and getting clearances from the various departments. There are a few disadvantages of hiring this kind of contractor. First, the floor plan is fixed and you can hardly get a few changes made to it. Secondly, if you are not hiring a reputed builder, you cannot be sure about the quality of the construction.

The third type of builder is a green builder. A green builder can either be a custom builder or a production builder. The only difference between a green builder and other conventional builders is in the process they follow for constructing the buildings. The green builders ensure that the construction process causes no harm to the environment. They use recyclable materials for building the homes. There is no or minimum use of chemicals and synthetic materials. The layout of the homes is developed in such a manner that the home can make use of wind and Sun, thus reducing the dependence on electrical and electronic gadgets like air conditioners and heaters. A green home builder develops homes that are environment friendly and good for the health of the inhabitants.
